Baltimore Sun: New restaurant and cafe Amber to open in Locust Point apartment complex
Amber, a cafe and restaurant, plans to open inside the lobby of South Baltimore luxury apartment complex Anthem House later this fall, said Amber owner Gino Kozera. The 100-seat restaurant wants to be a “community-gathering space” focused on craft beer and coffee, while serving “American light fare” for breakfast, lunch and dinner, said Kozera, who signed the lease for the 2,000-square-foot space in March. Forty craft beers will be on tap, and cocktails and wine will also be served. Kozera, once a partner of the Fells Point restaurant Pierpoint, said the Anthem House project was an attractive place for the venture, which was first reported by the Baltimore Business Journal. His goal is to create a comfortable space for Locust Point residents to enjoy themselves. “I look at it as a growing community, an upscale community,” Kozera said. “I want to give them a local place that they’ll be able to gather at.” Kozera said he plans to hire up to 20 people. Anthem House, a 292-unit building located on 900 E. Fort Ave., plans to open its doors to residents in June. The news of Amber’s opening was first reported by the Baltimore Business Journal.
