We’re Mutts About National Dog Day
Fur real, National Dog Day is on Thursday, August 26th.
We’ve compiled a list of how and where you can give some extra love to your furry friends, right here in Baltimore. But first, let’s take a look at how this day came to be.
A Paw-Some Holiday
National Dog Day was originally observed in 2004. Animal rescue advocate, Colleen Paige, sought to raise awareness for animal safety. National Dog Day opposes all animal abuse, cruelty, and breed bans. Therefore, she founded the holiday to celebrate our furry friends, encourage adoption, and promote animal welfare. Paige actually adopted her first dog, “Sheltie,” on August 26th.
