Healthy Restaurants Nearby To Help You Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions—Deliciously!
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to be healthier? Eating healthy is a great way to help start your year off on the right foot, and help your mind and body feel their best. But, that doesn’t have to mean staying in every night! There are plenty of restaurants both at and nearby Anthem House that are serving up great options for the health-conscious diner. Keep reading for some of our favorite recommendations:
At Anthem
If you don’t feel like cooking, let Anthem House do it for you! We have two on-site restaurants, each a fantastic way to indulge.
Limoncello is an Italian trattoria-style serving lunch, brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Pasta is, of course, a delicious Italian classic, but the cuisine is also known for some seafood specialties. Try Gamberoni alla Griglia: grilled head-on shrimp, spicy caponata-citrus sauce. Or, check out their polipo grilled octopus, served with heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, celery, and Gaeta olives. Another way well-rounded option is a salad, like Misticanza salad made with spring mix. Tip: you can add meat to bulk up any of Limoncello’s salads.
Jazz + Soju is another delectable spot, also conveniently located right at Anthem House. We recommend their edamame (which is equally trendy as it is delicious)! These steamed green soybeans are tossed with sea salt, or you can try it spicy for an extra kick. Also look into their three salad choices, each available with added shrimp or chicken.
Nearby Restaurants
Just down the road are plenty of other local spots for some lighter eats.
Samos Greek Island Grill serves up amazing greek specials. Check out their classic Greek salad, roasted veggies and grilled meats. For a healthy appetizer, you can’t go wrong with a Greek Salad!
Baba’s Kitchen also has lots of veggie, vegan and gluten-free options. Their Mediterranean-style offerings like salads and kebabs are a great way to try something new, while still staying on track with your health goals.
One other location to try for healthy options is Himalayan House on East Fort Ave. They have a large menu with tons of healthy selections, as well as vegetarian options, with delicious Indian flavors. Try a classic like Tandoori Chicken.
For an on-the-go snack or breakfast, Clean Juice makes acai bowls, salads, toasts, juices and smoothies. They are not only instagrammable, but delicious and nutrient-packed. It’s perfect to pick-up on your way home from the gym!
Another juice spot is coming soon to A2, but in the meantime, you can try out Pure Raw Juice at their Federal Hill location. They also serve bowls, juices, smoothies and more, each packed with nutritious ingredients and power foods.
Need to get some work done but don’t want to be tempted by sugary treats? Visit Koba Cafe and try a smoothie like the Blue Goose, made with bananas, blueberries, raspberries, blended with orange and pineapple juice. For a more substantial meal, try a wrap with salad on the side like the Powerhouse Wrap, with roasted red peppers, hummus, cucumbers, carrots, lettuce, and tomato.
Poke bowls are a Hawaiian meal, traditionally with marinated ahi tuna over a bed of rice. Poke Ono lets you build-your-own bowl, so that you can pick exactly what you like. Just select a base, protein, sauce, and veggies and you have a healthy and fun meal.
Everyone loves Chipotle and there are lots of ways to make your typical order a little bit healthier. Try adding extra veggies or get your favorite protein in a salad bowl. Their Lifestyle Bowls now have supergreens salad mix and Whole30® Compliant chicken, so you can feel good about this once guilty pleasure.
Locust Point Steamers is known for their delectable steamed crab, which are an excellent source of protein! For a healthier side, opt for Maryland crab soup instead of cream of crab. You’ll have an equally crabby soup with fewer calories and fat.
Little Havana’s is another classic Bmore spot, but there are plenty of great healthy menu items to choose from. We love the Mojito Chicken Salad, featuring Mojo-marinated chicken breast on a spinach leaf salad with cabbage, carrots, oranges, and peaches, with their signature mojito dressing.
