Locust Point Festival: End of Summer Fun Just Steps Away from Anthem House
Are you looking for a perfect way to spend the last of the sunny summer weather? The Locust Point Festival is an LP tradition, just a short walk down the street from Anthem House! It will be held in the beautiful Latrobe Park on September 7th from 11am to 6pm. It’s a great chance to meet up with friends or co-workers, or bring your out-of-town visitors for a great introduction to what makes Locust Point special.
A Historic Tradition
The festival was first held in the late 1970’s. Initially, it was a neighborhood fundraiser started by Ann and Victor Doda to raise money to stop I-95 construction through Locust Point. Today, money raised from the event goes to various community projects and charities. Through the years, the festival has become an annual celebration of the community, bringing residents together over tradition (and Cruscki cookies!) Many locals join in the festivities, as volunteers, vendors and visitors.
This Year’s Happenings
There will be a mouth-watering array of food vendors, sure to satisfy your appetite for all of Charm City’s best. For a savory snack, try some pork from Harborque, voted best of Baltimore barbeque, or grab some classic Maryland crab from LP Steamers. More food will be available from In Like Flynn Tavern, City Limits Sports Bar, Hull Street Blues Cafe, and the LP Hot Dog Stand. You can cool off with a refreshing sip from Pure Raw Juice, or an ice cold beer from Diamondback brewery! They will be serving up a new specialty: “Locust Point Light.”
When you’re done exploring all of the delicious food options, there’s plenty to do around the festival. There will be opportunities to win exciting prizes from raffles and purchase Locust Point merchandise to show off your neighborhood spirit. All day, you can also check out live music from local acts like The Wafflers.
Events like this make us proud to be a part of such a special community here in Locust Point. We hope you #LiveYourAnthem well through the rest of the summer and have fun at the Locus Point Festival!
