Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Our Guide to Baltimore’s Home Opener
Mar 28, 2019
The grass is getting greener, the weather is getting warmer, the sun is staying out later...it’s baseball season! Whether you’re a diehard sports fanatic or you’re mostly just in it for the snacks, Opening Day is a great time to get together with family and friends to celebrate America’s pastime. In this post, we have some ideas to “pitch” to help you kick off the season right and gear up for the biggest day in Baltimore sports!
Pre-Game Around Town Lots of spots around the city are hosting events before the big game with delicious food, spirits, and fun! Want a more substantial snack than peanuts and hot dogs? Join Mother’s Federal Hill for “O’pening Day” at the Orange Patio. One ticket will get you a seat at the game, food, and access to an open bar from noon to 3pm. For the baseball history lovers, the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum is hosting an Opening Day block party! They will have food, drinks, and the chance to see a piece of history: Ruth’s Presidential Medal of Freedom, as well as a rare scorecard from Ruth’s special 60th home run game in 1927! Have relatives visiting from out of town? Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards is hosting a party too, so you won’t have to go very far to find the fun! You can also check out the 9th Annual Bmore Around Town Tailgate in the Purple tailgate lot at Stadium Square. They will have tons of tailgate treats (like soft serve ice cream, All Y’all BBQ, and even a cotton candy station), a premium open bar, live music, raffles, and more! Of course, we couldn’t forget this Opening Day local legend: Pickles Pub! The party is so huge, you won’t want to miss it! Pre-game your pre-game with free breakfast from 6-9, as well as drinks and an iHeart Radio live broadcast. Home Run Prefer to avoid the crazy crowds and celebrate from the comfort of home? No problem! Anthem will have the big game playing on all of our TV’s! Get your munchie fix by heading downstairs for a Maryland-themed Snack Bar featuring lots of locally made favorites. Plus, Anthem House’s own Amber bar will be offering Opening Day specials, so be sure to stop by and check them out! We Love Baseball, Too! Our Anthem family is full of big Baltimore sports fans! We all have our own traditions and memories of Camden Yards. Katilin, our Assistant Property Manager, knows how to spend Opening Day right: “No matter where I sit, I always make my way to the Center Field bar at some point during the game. It’s a great place to grab an orange crush and has the best view of the field. A day at the Yard is a great place to gather with family or friends, you don’t even have to like baseball to have a great time.” Amy, our Property Manager, has been an O’s fan for life and is passing on the team spirit to her children: “Some of my fondest memories growing up are from Orioles games at Camden Yards so it has been so fun reliving the experience through the eyes of my children. “My son loves rooting for Relish in the Hot Dog Race and my daughter always picks the center crab in the Crab Shuffle. The Orioles organization always has a season jam packed with different events and experiences that every game has something new while still keeping true to the roots of Baltimore baseball.” #LiveYourAnthem No matter how you decide to spend your Opening Day, we hope it’s a home run!
