Baltimore Celebrates Brunch Month

Apr 11, 2024

For all brunch lovers, this month is your month! The start of April also kicks off the start of National Brunch Month, a time to celebrate the food, drinks, and places we may go. The concept of brunch started in England in the 19th century as a light meal, eventually turning into the lavish experience it is today. The concept of brunch had only traveled to America only by the 1930s in Chicago.

There are many places you can go to for brunch in Baltimore! We have collected a list of the best places to eat for you to choose from.

In Hampden, you’ll find The Food Market, a nice restaurant with a focus on comfort foods and excellent service. Their brunch kicks off on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 in the morning and goes on until 2:30pm. During their brunch service, they offer dishes such as French Toast Dippers, Turkey Sausage Tacos, and Shrimp and Grits.

Another great brunch stop is in Fells Point — the Waterfront Hotel, now a renovated tavern open to all. This historic building has been around since the 1700s, and has even held a part in American history as a hotel during the civil war. Grab a stack of their Cookies and Cream Pancakes or some of their Crab Cake and Eggs to enjoy while you dine in the second oldest brick building in Baltimore.

If you want to try brunch inside an exciting atmosphere, then look no further from Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point. This cafe is the home to owner Sarah Simington’s famous Captain Crunch French Toast. Enjoy this dish and others in the presence of a funky and playful atmosphere with colorful artwork and rock and roll music.

Gunther & Co in Canton is focused on giving all their patrons the best experience that can be offered during brunch service. They offer worldly dishes that anyone can enjoy, but they also have classics such as French Toast. Be sure to pair your brunch with one of their delectable cocktails or mocktails!

For the classic Baltimore experience of eating some good food to start the day, check out The Outpost in Federal Hill. Their brunch menu features day drinks, such as their Brunch Shot, which is a mix of whisky and schnapps and an orange juice chaser. It’s the perfect thing to pair with some of their Baked Brie.

Also in Federal Hill is Little Havanas, which was transformed from an abandoned warehouse to a lovely Cuban restaurant. At the all-day brunch, you can grab unique dishes, such as the Papas Bowl, made with eggs, roasted potatoes, and jalapeno cream, or their Hangover Burrito. They also have classic dishes, such as pancakes and Huevos Rancheros.

For some spectacular Italian brunch, check out our neighbor, Limoncello. Enjoy their first class hospitality as you sip on their fresh homemade limoncello with a Crab Cake Benedict or their Buon Giorno Frittata. The best part? It’s only steps away from your home here at Anthem House.

Water for Chocolate, located up in Butcher’s Hill, is built on supplying the best ingredients possible for all their dishes. You will find dishes like no other here, including their Jerk Duck Confit, a WFC Bowl, and their Hungover Special

Our last brunch spot is Maximon in Harbor East. This restaurant serves food inspired by Mexican and South American cuisine and offers an elevated dining experience within the Four Seasons hotel. Enjoy their weekend brunch by ordering some of their Norteño or by checking out their Raw Bar, with seafood such as Oysters and Yellowtail Tiradito.

Happy Brunch Month

We hope that you are able to have a lovely weekend brunch at one of our suggested establishments this April and beyond.
